The PTO hopes you will be active in the Oak Hill community. We have many great activities planned for this year and we encourage you to become involved. We have fun together and the students have enjoyable, meaningful experiences as a result of your involvement in their education. 

The PTO will meet on the second Tuesday of each month throughout the school year. We invite you to join us for our meeting virtually on October 13th at 6pm.A link to join the meeting will be sent out closer to the date. The school and the PTO will benefit from hearing your ideas, and you will be better informed about upcoming events at the school. We hope to see you there. Upcoming fall meetings will be held virtually on November 10th at 6 p.m. and December 8th at 6 p.m.

September 25 is 9-2-5 Dolly Day! We will be celebrating Dolly Parton’s kindness and her dedication to sharing books with children around the world through the Imagination Library.

Students are invited to participate in the following optional activities:

• Wear pajamas to school

• Bring a gently used book to donate to Sarah’s House

Students will also enjoy a schoolwide read-aloud and create a Kindness Butterfly, sharing one way they will spread kindness to others.

We look forward to celebrating the joy of reading and the power of kindness together!

We are excited to welcome former WWE and Cirque Du Soleil star Sidney Bateman to our school on Wednesday October 21st. Sidney is a youth motivational speaker who shares his powerful journey of resilience, courage, and the decision to rise above.

We are in need of an Assembly planning chair. The chair is responsible for coordinating two assemblies a year - you are given the timeframe, and you get to select what interesting performances to bring to our students! If you are interested in this low lift commitment, please reach out to Lindsey Graves.

Each Monday morning, PTO provides breakfast, grab-and-go snacks, drinks, and other goodies to help brighten their week. Volunteers and donations are always appreciated!

As we gear up for another great year of community events, we're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help chair (or co-chair) a 5K Family Fun Run/Walk. The event is new this year!

Help organize our annual community 5K, coordinating logistics, registration, sponsors, and race-day operations. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves fitness and community building.

Hero Boys is a club for boys to learn to run, but also to learn to challenge themselves, set goals, discover their talents and strengths, learn to lead, and help others. It is open to boys in 3rd-5th grades, and will meet Wednesdays after school from 2:30-4:00pm beginning September 23rd. Sign ups will be shared soon, please contact Mr. Robinson with any questions. 

Similar to Hero Boys, we will be offering a Girls' Running Club for girls in grades 3 through 5. The club is tentatively set to begin in late September and meet Wednesdays after school from 2:30-4:00pm. We are looking for at least one additional coach to make this happen! Coaches' daughters are guaranteed a spot in the program, and spots are limited! Email Lindsey Graves if you are interested in coaching. 

Lego Club is in need of volunteers to keep it going this year, as the chairs for the club have taken their Legos and moved up to middle school. If you are interested in learning more or volunteering to keep this fun club active, please reach out here!

A favorite event for both students and their families, this year's Talent Show is scheduled for February 26th. Students in every grade are encouraged to sign up and wow us with a dance number, skit, vocal performance, magic act, martial arts demonstration, comedy set, puppeteering, dramatic reading, etc. But before you start picturing your child's amazing performance, WE NEED VOLUNTEERS. Our seasoned co-chair has moved up to middle school, and our new co-chair will need lots of support to keep the magic going this year! And since we only allow 34 acts per show, if we receive more sign-ups than that, which has happened, your students are guaranteed a spot as a panel member! The 39th annual Harvest for the Hungry drive to benefit the Anne Arundel County Food Bank is now underway. This is the AACFB’s largest food drive of the year and they are counting on our support to help the more than 72,000 people in our county who are facing food insecurity. 

Your generosity supports many programs, including food pantries, baby pantries, the Mobile Food Pantry, and the Backpack Buddies program with Anne Arundel County Public Schools. It is also a great opportunity for our students to learn! Participation in the program teaches children valuable lessons about hunger, engages them in giving, and shows them they have the power to make a difference in their community.

For the last 3 years, our school has been a top donating school;. we hope to continue this streak! We have put together a list (see other side) with suggested items to bring in each day throughout the month, as well as information about our Spirit Week. These are some suggestions; all non-perishable, non-expired foods are welcome! Please keep in mind that glass containers often break so please select plastic instead.

Funds can be donated easily online at aafoodbank.org/aacps 

We will be collecting food from October 1-31st. Some suggested items are:

● Peanut butter

● Cereal

● Dry mixes (pancake, cookie, brownie, etc.)

● Jelly

● Canned proteins (tuna, chicken, or Spam)

● Pasta & pasta sauce

● Soup

● 1lb. bags of rice

● 1lb bags of beans (pinto, black, or mixed)

● Baby formula and food

● Healthy snacks including breakfast bars

**Please do NOT send in glass containers; they are very fragile and can be messy!

To celebrate the event, we will be having a Spirit Week from Monday, October 19th to Friday, October 23rd.

Wear your wackiest, tackiest outfit and bring 2 mismatched foods.

Tuesday- TWOs day

Bring 2 items and wear something for  a place you’d love to travel TO!

Wednesday- Wake-Up! 

Wear PJs to school and donate non-perishable breakfast items.

Thursday- Colorful Crew! 

Wear as many colors as you can and donate canned fruit.

Friday- Souper Bowl Friday! 

Wear your favorite sports team jersey or favorite color and donate soup.

Get ready for Oak Hill's Boo Bash! The dance will be October 17th 5:30pm-7:30pm at the Severna Park Community Center. Students and immediate family members are invited! Tickets will be on sale through Membership Toolkit starting September 22nd. Many volunteers are needed to make this event a success, and short volunteer shifts ensure no one misses out on dancing with their favorite little ghouls! Please place Box Tops in a Ziploc bag labeled with your child's name and homeroom, then send them into school. We are receiving several baggies without teacher's name. Teachers will not receive credit for baggies without teacher names.
