Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I join PTO?

PTO helps connect Oak Hill staff members, teachers and hundreds of parents in our Oak Hill community as partners and advocates in our children’s education. Oak Hill PTO benefits EVERY child at our school and PTO is a valuable resource for every Oak Hill family!  More here.

Do I need to sign up to become a PTO member each school year?

PTO membership is good for one year. Our PTO membership drive takes place in the Fall, but you can join any time of year.

If I’m a PTO Member, do I have to attend meetings, volunteer at PTO events or serve on the PTO Board?

Not at all. Being a PTO Member simply gives you the right to exercise your voice and vote on topics at the General Membership PTO meetings. You are not required to attend meetings or volunteer. However, we believe there is great value in volunteering at the school for both the parents and students. There will be various volunteer opportunities available throughout the year so that we can accommodate a variety of schedules and we firmly believe that even an hour can make a huge difference! Our General Membership PTO meetings are designed to be informative and fun.

How can I make a gift?

You can make a gift or give a matching gift at the same time you sign up for a PTO membership.

Do you accept matching gifts?

Having your gift matched by your employer is an easy way to double or sometimes triple your gift to Oak Hill Elementary School PTO.  Many employers have matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees.  Check with your employer today.

What does the PTO do with your money?

Your PTO dollars support many important and fulfilling programs for our children, teachers/staff and allow the PTO to beautify and enrich our children's learning environment and teachers/staff in other ways too!  There are many ways, large and small, the PTO enhances the lives of Oak Hill Elementary School students on a daily basis.  Here are just a few of them:

  • A children's book author visits our school each year.
  • A variety of cultural programs and special assemblies are presented each year.
  • Books and other necessities are purchased for the library and computer lab.
  • Meetings, newsletters and emails keep you informed.
  • Teaching tools and playground equipment are provided.
  • The PTO purchases larger items for the school.

How do I get involved?

We are always looking for volunteers to help with events or join our board.  If you are interested in helping with an event or a board position please contact our volunteer coordinator
