OAK HILL UPDATES

VP of Fundraising Needed - ASAP

Due to a relocation, the PTO Board is seeking to fill the position of Vice President of Fundraising on our current board. This role is an essential part of our organization’s mission to support our students, teachers, and school community through various fundraising initiatives. Without this position, our PTO will not have funds to assist the teachers, staff, and students of Oak Hill as we have in past years.

Please reach out to Kayla Earhart (oakhillptofundraising@gmail.com) if you are interested.

Clothes for Cash

For those who do not know, there is a clothing bin located on the side parking lot near our car rider line (it is the yellow bin). The school earns money from Capital Clothing Recyclers for all clothing collected, and we receive money for every pound of clothing collected.

All items placed in the bin must be:

CLEAN, DRY, IN BAGS and TIED CLOSED

Accepted:  All Clothing (Women's, Men's & Kid's Clothing, Coats, etc.)

All Footwear (Shoes, Sneakers, Boots, Cleats, Etc.)

Textiles (Bedding, Sheets, Blankets, Towels)

Accessories (Handbags, Backpacks, Gloves, Scarves, Jewelry, Watches)

NOT ACCEPTED:  Furniture, Food, Cushions, Plastic/Glass Items, Carpet, TV's, Electronics. Anything breakable, or too large to fit in the bin.

Nothing better than before the holidays to clean out that unused clothing and donate for a good cause.

CHAIRS STILL NEEDED!!!!

We are still in need of two chairs for the Silent Auction to be held in Spring 2026.  This is a HUGE source of fundraising for the school, and allows the PTO to provide for the student, staff, and teachers - such as the recent funds for Mr. Peachy's 5th Grade Chorus Trip to Hershey Park in the Spring.

Without this event, next year's PTO could not have sufficient funds to do what has been consistently done year after year for Oak Hill.

If there are no volunteers for chairs by MLK Jr Weekend, the event will be cancelled for this school year.

Any questions, please reach out to Lynn or Anna (ohesptopresident@gmail.com)

Volunteering
  • Manic-Less Mondays: We still need volunteers to sign up to treat our staff and start their week off right.
  • Thank You: We appreciate all the volunteers who helped with Picture Day. Your support made it a success.
  • Reminder AACPS Volunteer Requirements:
    • Every 2 years: Complete the Sexual Harassment/Child Abuse video and form.
    • Background check (valid for 2 years) or one-time fingerprinting at the Board of Education (valid until your youngest child graduates high school).

We’re so grateful for our dedicated families, your time and effort make a difference every day.

Reminder - Spirit Wear Pick Up

There are still 8 spirit wear orders which need to be picked up.

Please contact Kayla (ohesptofundraising@gmail.com) to arrange as soon as possible.

Little Carmine's Fundraiser

Thanks to everyone who enjoyed Little Carmine's on October 30 - we were able to raise $700.00 for the school.

Special thanks to Jacquie Shea and Amanda Phelps for co chairing this event!

OHES Chess Club is Back!!!

Wonderful news at Oak Hill! The chess club is set to make a return after school on Mondays beginning in January.

Students grades 3 - 5 will be permitted to sign-up, and we will treat the sign-ups the same as Lego Club.

If we receive more interest than we have room for, a lottery will take place.

Students of club volunteers would receive automatic enrollment. Siblings (3rd - 5th) will also be kept together.

GOTR 5K

Girls on the Run will have their practice 5K on Monday November 3rd at 3pm. Family and friends are invited to come out to cheer them on! Remember to send your daughter in comfortable clothing and sneakers, with a snack and a water bottle.

Our end-of-season 5K will be on Sunday, November 23rd at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. For more details, please visit https://www.gotrchesapeake.org/5k for everything you need to know about the 5K.

Every participant is required to have a registered 5K Buddy for the event. All are invited to join in on the fun – all are welcome to join and cheer.
 .

HERO BOYS 5K

The Hero Boys will hold their 5K on November 8.

Lego Club Meetings

Lego Club will NOT MEET on Wednesday, November 12 or Wednesday, November 26.

The last meeting of Lego Club is Wednesday, December 10.

Successful Oak Hill Boogie!

We held our annual dance this year in October – it was a fun costume themed dance and it was a real success! Thank you to all the families who came out dressed in their Halloween best and partied with our Oak Hill community for a few hours.

We want to give a big thanks to Jessica Goldberg for chairing this event for us for a 2nd year in a row! And to all the volunteers who gave their time and volunteered on the big night: Selina Adams, Alexander Bitter, Eliza Bitter, Kathryn Blood, Kathleen Breuninger, Anna Builta, Clara Connell , Nora Diepenbrock, Jennifer Dooley, Katherine E Taylor, Colleen Finn, Cheryl Florio, Lindsey Graves, Annie Greaves, Jasmine McDaniel, Breina Rippy, Kathleen Romero, Becky Trevillian, Kathy Welsh, Emily Wierschke, Sarah Wilks & Courtney Williams.

While not typically a fundraising event, we did bring in over $1,200 for the PTO! Wow!

Talent Show is a Go!

Our community heard our cry for help and they stepped up to the challenge. We now have a full production panel on board to begin preparations on the annual Stars of Oak Hill show.

Students wanting to perform on the big night should start thinking about what they want to display up on the big stage! Sign-ups will open December 1 and will run through Dec 31

As usual we can accept up to 34 acts for the show from ALL grades and if we receive more interest than we can accommodate, the normal lottery will happen automatically.

Special Friends Day - Date Change

Due to the changes the Board of Education made to the 2025-2026 calendar, Special Friends Day will be held on Thursday, March 26.

School will now be closed to students on Friday, March 27.
